What grows here
Plants chosen for life under glass
Discover mosses, compact tropicals, colorful foliage plants and other varieties that can help bring a miniature environment to life.
A planted enclosure is its own small climate — humid, still and often dim compared to a windowsill. Plants that thrive in it are the ones that stay in scale, root readily into a background or substrate, and keep their colour without direct sun.
Terrarium or vivarium?
The difference matters when you're choosing plants
Terrarium
A planted glass container, usually closed or partly closed, kept humid and stable. Plants are the point. Growth stays slow and small, and pruning is the main maintenance job.
Vivarium
A planted enclosure built as a habitat, often for amphibians, geckos or invertebrates. Plants need to handle traffic, misting systems and drainage — and be safe for the animals living in them.
Planning an enclosure for animals? Confirm plant suitability for your specific species before planting. Greg is happy to talk through what he grows.

Planning a build
Tell Greg what you're building
Size of the enclosure, how much light it gets, whether it's misted, and whether animals will live in it — those four things decide most of the plant list. Send the details and Greg can suggest what he has growing.
